Women's Health

Co-Lab

The Women's Health Co-Lab is a collaborative fund aiming to mobilize $100 million to transform the future of women's health across the United States and Global South.

We envision a world where every woman and girl can live with health, safety, and full autonomy over her body—free from discrimination, violence, or coercion. Despite decades of progress, hard-won rights are being rolled back, and funding cuts across the global health and development sectors are outpacing the philanthropic response.

The Women’s Health Co-Lab—launched by ICONIQ Impact in partnership with Co-Impact and founding supporters Melinda French Gates, Jennifer Gates Nassar, and Phoebe Gates, and 14 other families—is meeting this urgent moment. As our strategic partner, Co-Impact brings deep expertise in gender and women’s health, with regional teams that surface and support outstanding locally rooted organizations. Their ongoing support helps ensure philanthropic funding translates into lasting impact at scale.

By investing in women where it matters most—including expanding access to care, advancing reproductive rights, supporting survivors, and strengthening women’s health systems for generational impact—we can transform this crisis and reimagine what’s possible for millions of women and girls around the world.

800

Every day, more than 800 women die globally from complications related to pregnancy and childbirth. Unequal access to care puts Black, Indigenous, women of color, and women in remote regions at the greatest risk.

470M

An estimated 470 million women around the world will lack access to sexual and reproductive healthcare in 2030.

1 in 3

One in three women will be subjected to violence in their lifetime, including attacks from sexual and intimate partners, trafficking, female genital mutilation, child marriage, and online harassment.

Maternal health

The goal is simple: safe, healthy pregnancies and births, and a sharp reduction in maternal mortality. The Co-Lab’s six maternal health grantees seek to strengthen maternal healthcare delivery systems, increase the uptake of maternal healthcare through technology and community engagement, and build the capacity of healthcare workers.

Sexual and reproductive health and rights

Every woman deserves quality reproductive care, from family planning to essential health services to trusted education. The Co-Lab’s 10 sexual and reproductive health and rights grantees aim to expand access to family planning, provide accurate information about reproductive care, and change restrictive laws.

Gender-based violence

Women and girls have the right to live free from sexual violence—including intimate partner violence, assault, harassment, and harmful practices such as female genital mutilation and child marriage. The Co-Lab’s six gender-based violence grantees seek to bolster policies and laws that protect women from violence, engage men and boys in redefining gender norms, support survivors, and drive awareness to empower adolescent girls.
